Crawling Preferred. Little man has taken 7 steps, crazy! But he still prefers to crawl. And boy can he crawl!
Personality. He is very determined. Once he sees something he wants, he must have it. He's become a tantrum expert, but we ignore the more obvious ones.
Bashful. He gets bashful when he gets a whole lot of attention from strangers. He'll dig in his head towards me, and act shy. It's so precious, and only results in him getting more attention. Of course around those he knows, he is loud, boisterous, and quite a handful.
Favorite Toys. There is this one particular toy that Mr. P absolutely loves. I bought it when we took a day trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's a blue and yellow squishy ball. It's produced by www.flashsales.com. Unfortunately their site is down for now, so I can't directly link to it, but I promise you, it is baby crack! He also loves a cheap Scooby Doo ball I purchased from Target. He loves throwing it and chasing it all over the house. He also loves my yoga ball. Other things he loves: bins, wallets, a particularly flowy sarong of mine (goes nuts when I play peekaboo with it), iPhone/iPad (Alphababy, Paint Sparkles, Fish School), Vtech Walker, and random household items (spatulas, spoons, pots and pans, sewing measuring tapes, calculators, and electronic pieces pulled from his Rainforest Jumperoo and Neptune Playmat).
Gear for your wishlist. B.O.B. Revolution SE Stroller. I love our B.O.B. It's multi-purpose, so don't assume it's only for jogging. Once you get it, you'll give up your other stroller, like I did! The best parts about it? Rubber tires, and the suspension provide such a smooth ride. No plastic wheels! I use it for jogging or walking about, and I use it as our little grocery cart when we walk down to our neighborhood grocery store.
ErgoBaby. I held off on buying one until recently. We have used a BabyBjorn for the longest, but Mr. P had gotten too big for it, so it began hurting our backs. I was worried that Mr. P would hate the ErgoBaby because he wouldn't be able to look outward, but I find that he doesn't mind facing in at all! It doesn't give him the vantage point he's used to, but he loves snuggling up. Also, it's an easy to transition a sleeping Mr. P into the Ergobaby with no fuss. The straps were a little confusing at first, but with a bit of practice, it's easy to adjust. We were also worried that Mr. P was too high energy for the carrier, but he does fine in it.
Peg Perego Convertible Car Seat. So far I really like this car seat! For one, Mr. P sits higher so he can see out the window, which provides lots of entertainment. He loves watching the cars driving by. The seat is also so very squishy and comfortable, and he hasn't had any complaints so far! We upgraded from our Chicco Keyfit 30, which we had a few issues with. My only issue with this car seat is that the seat belt is hard to loosen and tighten, which I'll have to troubleshoot tomorrow.
Phil & Teds Poppy High Chair. I did a review not long ago on this great high chair! It's minimal, easy to clean, and works perfectly for our little home.
Foods. I've been supplementing Mr. P with a liquid vitamin fortified with iron. After 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding, a woman's iron reserve is depleted. It's important to get iron from alternate sources. Unfortunately, after testing Mr. P for lead poisoning (which he doesn't have), the Dr. found that Mr. P was anemic. It was pretty scary news, and so sad to hear, because I thought I'd been providing enough iron. So we've increased his intake of meats and fortified cereals. I've also been focusing on fattening up Mr. P, so the foods we offer him are high-calorie and nutrient dense. I still breastfeed frequently to try and keep up my milk supply. We have an upcoming Dr's visit to see Mr. P's progress.
Socialization. We're happy to report that Mr. P is great around other kids! Although every now and then he'll slap someone, but for the most part, he keeps his little fingers to himself. He likes to try and feed people, and he'll try and read you a story!
Teething. No teeth yet! Maybe I'll be lucky and his teeth will come in after weaning.
Signing. Although I would love to sign, I've just given up for the moment. I don't think he has the dexterity for it, and he doesn't focus on my hands long enough to understand what I'm doing. Maybe I'll start again this month.
Travels. We went to Hot Springs, Arkansas this month! It was a nice trip, and may be one of our lasts in Arkansas since we are moving! Yes, moving! We've only lived in Arkansas for 9 months so far, and we're moving back to our home state of Florida. This time, instead of Tallahassee, we're moving to the beautiful city of St. Augustine! We're so sad to leave Little Rock, especially after finally establishing ourselves! We have met many wonderful and kind people, and we're so sad to leave them. I have big hopes that they'll come to visit us in our new home in St. Augustine (where we hope to stay for much much longer).
Well, that's all for now. Until the next post!
